People who regularly strength train may reduce their risk of getting type 2 diabetes. A study by Harvard School of Pubic Health and U of S Denmark involved 32,002 participants from 1990 to 2008.
They found that men who did at least 150 minutes of weight training per week also did more cardio, watched less TV, drank less alcohol and were less likely to smoke and had a healthier diet than those who didn?t weight train.? All of this was associated with a reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
The authors noted that even a modest amount of time spent strength training was beneficial.
